Help your child say “NO” to Marijuana
Of the various forms of drugs used by addicts, marijuana must be the most common one. Popular for the pleasant high it gives marijuana or ganja is easily available and cheaper than other forms of drugs in Nepal.
Marijuana is said to have originated in the Himalayas. Popularized by the Sadhu’s, Hippies and Rastafarians, one can find that it is deeply rooted in the culture of the Nepalese society.
The sad part of all this is that even young kids in Nepal are finding themselves lured into this. Kids even as young as the 8th graders can be seen rolling joints when they are away from the watchful eyes of their parents. Just to imagine what they’ll grow up into is a scary thought. A kid who takes ganja is likely to find other ways of getting stronger forms of intoxication.
The biggest misconception parents have is that only kids who grow up in a broken environment are drug users. Other factors that are overlooked are peer pressure, experimentation and the urge to be “cool” to gain acceptance in a society. Parents or guardians are requested that they keep watch of their children’s activities and behaviors. Your kid be doing it and you may not have a clue.
It is always easier to get into trouble than to get out of it. If you wish your children’s future doesn’t blow up in a puff of ganja, help him realize the negative effects of drug abusing. Teach him to be a more responsible person and let him realize the faith you have in him. When it comes to drugs, help him make the right decision – to say “NO”.
