Why men stray
Married men may stray. Cheating spouse statistics confirm that 50 and 70 percent of married men have cheated or will cheat on their wives. One study found that 2/3 of the wives whose husbands were cheating had no idea their husbands were having an affair. Why do married men cheat?
Sex life no longer sizzles:
When the lovemaking at home is less frequent or the spark has fizzled out, a man is more tempted to look for it else where. For most men sex is the way they connect to their wives and hence he may take rejection personally and feel that his wife doesn’t love him as she used to.
Men who are unhappy with their physical appearance due to old age and their achievements at their 40’s may feel the need to recapture his youth. Men who can’t cope with this pressure may feel the need to prove himself as still attractive and competitive. Results are he might buy a bike or a fast car and start an affair with a younger woman.
If a guy’s buddies are having extramarital affair, it can sway his mind into trying it too. Friends who are cheating create an acceptable environment for such behavior. Hearing about his friends affairs may make a man more aware of the problems in his marriage and use them as an excuse to stray.
Career ups and downs:
A big promotion may give a man a sense of superiority that may make him think with the new found success he is also entitled to another woman. They may seek out a trophy girlfriend. Also as the opportunities for infidelity increase along with professional and financial status, the temptation grows in relation to the success in career.
Men connect much of their identity to their jobs. So when his career is on the downfall, his self esteem goes downhill too. His disgust at his inadequacy may lead him to desperate measures like having an affair to help him escape the harsh reality.
